Tragedy struck a family belonging to Narsaraopet, which set out on a pilgrimage to Shirdi, in the form of an accident that took place near Nagarsol in the early hours of Thursday.

Four members of the family- S. Radhakrishna Murthy (70), his wife Ranganayakamma (66), daughter-in-law Balatripura Sundari (40) and grand-daughter Asha (18) died when a huge tree fell on their stationary taxi barely an hour before they reached Shirdi. Asha was an Intermediate student in Vijayawada.

All the four died on the spot while Sundari’s husband Anjaneyulu and their younger daughter Anusha suffered injuries. They were out of the vehicle when the incident happened.

The family of Radhakrishna Murthy, a retired employee of RTC, reached Hyderabad by Palnadu Express on Wednesday morning and Nagarsol by Ajantha Express in the evening.

They hired a taxi from there to Shirdi to be there on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima on July 22.

Radhakrishna Murthy’s family goes to Shirdi every year, but this was a tragic turn in their lives. Anjaneyulu is in a pharmacy wholesale business for more than a decade.
