There was a sudden fall in the number of pilgrims visiting the ghats on the third day of ‘Godavari antya pushkarams’ on Wednesday.

Wet spell in several parts of East and West Godavari districts is said to be one of the reasons for the decrease in the number of visiting devotees.

“Many devotees are expected to arrive from Friday and there will be a good number of pilgrims on Saturday and Sunday,” said B. Rajakumari, SP, Rajamahendravaram Urban.

Municipal Commissioner V. Vijaya Ramaraju said that pilgrims from Odisha and West Bengal may turn up for the event on Sunday.
