The Andhra Pradesh State Higher Education Council Chairman L. Venugopal Reddy on Thursday said the faculty crunch is the main reason for the drop in standards in technical education.
Speaking at the Graduation Day celebrations at S.R.K.R. Engineering College here, he said even the university campus colleges and the premier IITs and the IIMs could not become free of faculty shortage. The lack of standards became a handicap for technical students to pursue higher education in the top foreign universities abroad, he said while exhorting the faculty to hone their teaching skills.
Mr. Reddy requested the managements of engineering colleges to keep laboratories and libraries in good condition. He highlighted the need for the students to improve their employable skills and personality development in tune with the industry expectations to find themselves in better placements.
