International facial yoga expert, Ruchika Sharma, was presented the Guinness World Records certificate for ‘Largest Facial Yoga Class’ conducted at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road here on Sunday.

3,000 participants

To create awareness on facial yoga for a holistic approach towards good health and wellbeing, the class was conducted with around 3,000 participants from various women entrepreneur clubs, social clubs and institutions.

The Adjudicator from Guinness World Records, Sofia Eleonora Greenacre, after verification of the event, announced the record attempt had 1,661 participants and presented the certificate to Ms. Sharma.

According to a press release, today’s event in the city broke the recent record of 295 participants organised by the Smooth E Company in Thailand and the Siam Paragon in Bangkok.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Sharma said face consists of more than 57 different muscles stretched like layered, elastic sheets on top of cranium and facial tissues.

“These muscles can act singly and in combination, creating the many facets of facial expressions. This is how facial exercises can help one maintain a more youthful look,” she added.
