Essay writing contest on ‘Birth Control’ evokes good response

July 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - CHITTOOR:

The essay writing competition on the theme of ‘Birth Control’ organised by the district medical and health officials evoked immense response from the students of various degree and nursing in and around Chittoor on Tuesday. The event is prelude to the occasion of the World Population Day on July 11. Over 100 girl students thronged the District Medical and Health Office to participate in the contest. The students were asked to emphasise the theme of maintaining a three-year-gap norm between deliveries, in order to reap the health benefits for both mother and child, apart from maintaining the best and practical yardstick in the direction of population control. Prizes to the winners would be given in three categories for both nursing and degree students on July 11 at a function to be held in Chittoor. DMHO Koteswari, District Health Educator M. Kalavathi, programme officers and college faculty took part in the event.
