Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday praised his son and coordinator of the TDP Workers Welfare Fund Nara Lokesh for enrolling 54 lakh members in the party in a matter of just 30 days.

Speaking at the party’s 34{+t}{+h}Foundation Day celebrations at NTR Trust Bhavan here, he said Mr. Lokesh has taken up excellent programmes for the welfare of party workers. An insurance scheme for party members that aimed at compensation for both death and injuries was his brainchild.

Travel concession would also be extended to the members, he added. Referring to efforts of TDP and BJP in the recent victory of BJP candidate N. Ramchander Rao in elections to Legislative Council, he appealed to the workers of both parties to jointly strive to see that the alliance rode to power in 2019 elections. He reiterated the demand for conferring Bharat Ratna on TDP’s founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao and declared that the party would fight till it was achieved.

He said TDP was the only party which stormed to power within nine months of its formation.

Although the Telugu speaking people were divided geographically, they were united and the party would strive for their welfare.
