The day-long dharna staged by the Secretariat Seemandhra employees at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi was marred by political slugfest, with leaders of the Congress, YSRCP and the TDP turning it into a platform to settle scores.

The leaders blamed each other for the situation in the State, but Seemandhra employees were happy that in spite of their political differences, all the parties were unanimous in expressing their solidarity to the employees’ demand to keep the State united.

About 500 Seemandhra employees from the Secretariat, led by their leaders U. Muralikrishna, K.V. Krishnaiah and M. Muralikrishna, went to the dharna at Jantar Mantar in a procession that attracted the attention of political leaders and general public.

While YSRCP honorary president Y.S.Vijayamma and other leaders Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, Konathala Ramakrishna, Ummareddy Venkateswarulu, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy expressed their solidarity, Congress leaders were represented by Union Minister Pallamraju, MPs Harsha Kumar , K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, Ananta Venkatrami Reddy, minister S. Sailajanath and MLC Rudraraju Padmaraju.

Extending her support for Samaikhyandhra, Ms.Vijayamma said Jagan had maintained that all political parties should give a common letter, extending their support to united AP. Mr. Pallamraju said being in the government, Congress MPs from Seemandhra were doing their best to keep the State united.

Telugu Desam MP C.M. Ramesh, and deputy leader of TDLP Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu who visited the dharna camp said it was the TDP MPs who had consistently raised their voice in Parliament against bifurcation and exposed the unilateral decision of the Congress party.

The Samajwadi Party state president Jagadish Yadav also expressed his party’s solidarity to the employees.

After the dharna, the Seemandhra Employees Forum leaders attended a seminar organised by the Journalists union.
