As many as 23 primary agricultural cooperative societies in Kadapa district will go to polls in the second phase on February 4.
Out of the 39 PACS for the second phase, notification was issued for 38 PACS excluding the Brahmanapalle PACS. The Government stayed election to eight societies, and six PACS were decided unanimously (two by the Congress and four by the YSRC).
While Congress-backed candidates bagged the Thimmasamudram PACS in Tsundupalle mandal and Peddiveedu in Veeravalle mandal unanimously, candidates backed by the YSR Congress unanimously won four societies – Saraswathipalle in Ramapuram mandal, Chinnakudala in Lingala mandal, Ankalammagudur in Simkadripuram and Kondapuram PACS.
Handloom societies
Meanwhile, nominations for 113 primary yarn and silk handloom societies in Kadapa district will be received on February 4.
The nominations will be scrutinised on February 5, according to a notification issued on January 28. The election of society directors will be held on February 11, and counting would commence in the afternoon.
The elected directors will choose the presidents and vice-presidents on February 12.
