Election fever seems to have gripped the YSR Congress leaders in the district if a variety of programmes being held by them is any indication. The party leaders have started going to the people in a bid to garner their support for consolidating their position within the party.

The district leaders, who are seeking to contest from various Assembly segments in the 2014 elections, have started the people-centric programmes in the name of ‘Praja Deevena’, ‘Praja Bandham’, ‘Deevena Yatra’ and so on.

After the resounding victories during the Kovur Assembly constituency by-election and Nellore Lok Sabha by-election, the YSRC leaders are leaving no stone unturned in further strengthening their party’s support base at the grassroots level.

The programmes are largely designed along the lines of the padayatra being conducted by party founder Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s sister Sharmila now.

Taking cue from the padayatra spirit of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the YSRC leaders continued to lay emphasis on programmes that would take them to the masses.

Party’s district convener Kakani Govardhan Reddy is touring different parts of the district as part of the Deevena Yatra which was aimed at exposing the failures of the Congress Government in addressing the problems of the people. While taking on the ruling Congress party on various issues, Mr. Govardhan Reddy has targetted the Telugu Desam Party also saying that it has not catered to the needs of the common people.

YSRC city convener Anam Venkataramana Reddy is going about conducting ‘Praja Bandham’ programme, which intends to take the party activists closer to the people. The programme is being conducted in different parts of the city and surrounding areas. As part of this, the party leaders are taking note of the issues confronting their sympathisers for finding solutions.

YSRCP senior leaders Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, P. Anil Kumar Yadav and others are also busy with ‘Praja Deevena’ programme to highlight the objectives of the party among the poor people.

During this programme, the leaders have sought to criticise the Congress and the TDP while appealing for greater support from the people in future to strengthen Jaganmohan Reddy’s leadership.
