Elderly woman dies of swine flu in Ongole

Death toll goes up to three in Prakasam

A 72-year-old woman, who had tested positive for swine flu, died at a corporate hospital here on Saturday, according to Prakasam District Medical and Health Officer J.Yasmin.

Battling for life for a week, the woman, Kokiladevi died on Saturday morning. With this, the toll in Prakasam district has risen to three.

While a 45-year-old man died on January 26, a 27-year-old man succumbed to the disease on January 10. 

In a positive development, three patients admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences with symptoms of swine flu tested negative.

No fresh cases were reported from anywhere in the district, said Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) Data Manager Ch.Prabakar Reddy.

A report on the health condition of a 45-year-old patient undergoing treatment for suspected swine flu in a private hospital here, is awaited, he added.
