Eight injured as bus overturns in Krishna district

A major road accident was averted when a Hyderabad-bound bus carrying 47 passengers overturned near Munagacherla village in Nandigama mandal of Krishna District in the early hours of Sunday. Eight persons were injured, with two of them suffering fractured limbs.

The incident occurred at around 12.45 a.m. on Sunday, when the bus which was returning from Bhadrachalam hit a divider and overturned.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Nandigama Chinna Hussain, the bus belonging to Hyderabad-based Mohini Travels was on pilgrimage tour since Sunday last. After visiting the last spot, Bhadrachalam Temple, it was on its way back to Hyderabad. All the pilgrims were from Hyderabad.

Mr. Hussain said that the driver Mohammed Nayeem (45) appeared to be strained, as he had been driving continuously from one pilgrim location to another all these days.

Six of the travelers suffered bruises and glass splinter injuries which include a minor girl. After initial treatment at Nandigama area hospital, the two with fractures have been shifted to Andhra Hospital in Vijayawada and are said to be out of danger.
