The Education Common Entrance Test (EdCET) 2014, scheduled to be held on June 2 at 42 cities and towns all over Andhra Pradesh, has been advanced as the date will be coinciding with the Appointed Date on which Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will become separate States.
The EdCET 2014 will now be held on May 30. This was decided at a meeting of the EdCET 2014 Committee held in Hyderabad on Tuesday, according to a press note issued by its convenor N. Venkata Rao.
Chairman of AP State Council of Higher Education L. Venugopal Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of AU and Chairman of EdCET Committee G.S.N. Raju and other members attended the meeting.
Applications for the entrance test will be received online only and the last date for submitting applications is Thursday (April 24) and April 30 with a late fee of Rs. 500. Website www.apedcet.org has online application, user guide, syllabus, eligibility criteria, examination pattern and all other details.
According to Prof. Venkata Rao, the EdCET committee has also decided that after the original certificates are verified during the admission counselling, their attested copies will be retained with the Convenor’s Office and the student who will be given admission has to submit his or her original certificates along with the allotment letter to the college to which he or she will be allotted.
Till Tuesday, 1,02,294 applications were received. There are 66,730 seats available in the 618 B.Ed. colleges in the State, including 16,680 under the management quota.
