The Election Commission relieved Nandyal DSP Gopalakrishna from election duty and ordered his transfer on Saturday on a complaint filed by the YSR Congress Party.

The EC issued the orders following an inquiry into the complaint that accused the police of acting in a partisan manner and raiding the houses of the Opposition party activists.

Kurnool OSD Raviprakash was given the additional charge as Nandyal DSP.

₹40 lakh seized

Meanwhile, the police raided the house of YSRCP leader Dastagiri Reddy at Pulakur in Banaganapalle mandal and seized ₹40.40 lakh from him.

The police said the money was seized on the suspicion that it was meant for distribution among voters.

The police also raided the houses of Jagadeeswar Reddy, Adi Reddy and Linga Reddy, all relatives of YSR Congress candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy, and the house of Arya Vysya leader Neraveti Satyanarayana on Friday midnight in Nandyal town, but were said to have found no cash.
