About 20 students from the Department of Management Studies of St. Theresa’s College for Women here have got an opportunity to earn while learning. Connectingbridge.com, a Hyderabad-based social networking website, has come forward to employ the students on a part-time basis. The students are required to work for two hours immediately after the college hours on the college campus so that they need not lose out on their regular classroom learning, says Santosh Jawahar, Head of the Department of MBA.
The students will be trained in selling various products such as tele-calling, offered by the website to its clientele and engaged in market promotion for the company.
In turn, the website receives service charges from its customer companies while 20 per cent of the amount goes to the students, Satyakiran, founder of the website said. The website is preparing ground to organise a training programme for the students in mobile apps and email marketing. The website would shortly upgrade itself as a job site with an online provision for resume upload, he said.
College principal P. Mercy, while inaugurating the programme, expressed the hope that the project would give an opportunity to students to get an idea of the job market and hone their communication and employability skills.
