A. Surya Kumari, Executive Officer of the Sri Kanaka Durga temple here, who was caught in a row over midnight tantrik rituals recently, was on Saturday night relieved from her duties to “facilitate a proper inquiry”. Endowments Commissioner Y.V. Anuradha was made in-charge EO.

This was announced by Endowments Minister P. Manikyala Rao after submitting the department’s report on the alleged rituals to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Vijayawada Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang too submitted a report to the Chief Minister. Mr. Naidu ordered a full-fledged investigation.

Mr. Manikyala Rao said the EO was relieved from duties temporarily as the government had found several administrative lapses and to facilitate a detailed inquiry.

Mr. Naidu took strong objection to the lapses that resulted in the performance of the rituals by unauthorised persons.
