The latest electronic gadgets being used by the government to ensure safety of pilgrims during the ongoing Krishna Pushkarams have failed to save the life of a boy. The seven-year-old boy, Adapa Kiran Kumar, son of one Ramakrishna, who played in waters at the Padmavati ghat for some time drowned while taking bath.

The presence of police personnel, swimmers, scavengers, pushkar sevaks, volunteers, supervisors and other devotees at the spot could not save the boy. Even the officials who were watching the ghats in CCTVs and drones were oblivious to what was happening just a few feet away in the waters. As per the CCTV footage, Kiran struggled for about two minutes in water and drowned. The boy came to the ghat alone and played in water for some time before taking the plunge that proved fatal, said the police.
