Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1,394 kg of cannabis (ganja), valued at about ₹2.09 crore. They arrested two persons in this connection.

The contraband was being smuggled from Sabbavaram village of Visakhapatnam district to Zaheerabad in Telangana.

On a tip-off, that ganja is being transported in a truck, the DRI officials intercepted the vehicle near Benz Circle on Monday, and found the prohibited narcotics drugs concealed under a load of casuarina wooden logs.

During the search, the DRI team seized ganja packed in 647 packets, in a separate space arranged behind the driver’s cabin. The cannabis was seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
