DoPT notifies final allocation of AIS officers

March 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued an order on Thursday for the final allocation of All India Service (AIS) officers of the undivided AP between the two successor States of A.P. and Telangana with immediate effect.

Over all 161 IAS, 116 IPS and 69 IFS officers were allocated to A.P. while Telangana was allocated 133 IAS, 95 IPS and 58 IFS officers. The provisional allocation list submitted by the Pratyush Sinha panel was issued on December 26 last year and a 15-day time was given for the officers to submit representations on grounds of marriage or any other reason to shift to the successor State.

The DoPT examined the representations and considered some cases and forwarded the final allocation list for the approval of Prime Minister. Though Telangana Government wanted to retain senior IAS officers like Poonam Malakondaiah and Somesh Kumar who were allocated to A.P. in the provisional list, they remain allocated to the A.P. in the final list. The only option available for these officers was through deputation with the mutual consent of both the State governments subject to approval of the Centre.
