Don’t play with farmers’ lives, Jagan tells Naidu

March 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - RAJAHMUNDRY:

YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has warned Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu against what he termed as “playing with the lives of farmers in the Capital region. He said that farmers in this region were a happy lot, cultivating their fields, which yielded three crops a year. Mr. Jagan, who was here on Friday to attend a party leader’s marriage, spoke to the media.

“If you play (Mr. Naidu) with the lives of farmers, they will teach you a lesson. Nobody is interested to know what technology you will engage to build a Capital in this fertile land that belongs to farmers. The vast stretches of lands acquired under land pooling are being taken by force,” Mr. Jagan alleged.

Suggesting that the new Capital could be built either in available government land or in forest land, he said that grabbing land from farmers was unfair. Further, he alleged that the Chief Minister was trying to do real estate business at the cost of farmers.
