It was a nostalgic moment for doctors when they took a stroll down memory lane.
Twenty-five years after they entered the portals of Sri Venkateswara Medical College (SVMC), students of the 1989 batch decided to gather at their alma mater and recall the ‘happy days’. Some of them have become academicians and researchers, while the rest are leading a ‘busy bee’ life as medical practitioners.
The year-long planning for a get-together to mark the silver jubilee of their entry into the college finally culminated this week. P. Krishna Prasanthi, N. Madhav Reddy, Vittal Mohan, Sasi Sekhar, Poornachandra Rao, K. Sunitha and C.Sunitha, the leading medical practitioners in the city, took the lead in organising the event and mobilised logistics for the D-day.
Apart from those practising in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and beyond, some of their pals came from the US, UK and Australia for the gala event.
“The moment our group reached the college portico, a sense of belongingness and attachment with the building gripped us. Similarly, a feel of camaraderie was quite palpable,” Dr. Krishna Prasanthi said. The doctors chose Grand World water theme park and Horsley Hills for the revelry. K. Madhusudhan from Srikalahasti Government Hospital stood as a symbol of inspiration, as he had completed M.D in Dermatology after losing functionality of limbs following a road accident.
The roaring applause from his friends would have surely been a ‘booster dose’ for the doctor. The doctors also pledged to lend all possible help to SVMC and decided to help the families of deceased classmates.
