The Krishna District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) has opened a Legal Aid Clinic at the district government hospital to provide necessary aid to the mentally-challenged.

DLSA Secretary and Senior Civil Judge Ch. Raju on Monday inaugurated the clinic, where an advocate and a para-legal volunteer will address grievances of the needy every Saturday.

“The clinic will extend legal aid to the mentally-challenged and ensure that they get timely medical treatment. It will also play a key role in the appointment of a guardian by the court for the mentally-challenged to provide him/her better treatment,” Mr. Raju said.

“We will also obtain a ‘Reception Order’ issued by the court for the respective candidate to refer him/her to the special care centres in Visakhapatnam and other cities,” he added.

The clinic will also advise parents of mentally-challenged children to utilise medical facilities for their wards. Para-legal volunteer K. Suseela was also present on the occasion.
