Let Hyderabad be capital of three new States, says ex-MLC

The State should be divided region-wise into three States with Hyderabad as the permanent capital to end the political imbroglio, former MLC P. Subba Reddy said on Friday.

He demanded that any decision be taken considering Justice Srikrishna Commission recommendations. He demanded that the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and all the elected representatives of Seemandhra districts tender resignations, as they were not in a position to move about in their constituencies, and support the demand for a united State.

The Congress took a unilateral decision to bifurcate the State ignoring the opinions of national and regional parties in the State leading to unrest among all sections of people in Seemandhra, he said.

Cities in the three regions should be developed on a par with Hyderabad with industries, irrigation sources, power and employment generation, Mr. Subba Reddy said.

The agitationists should show their resentment in the next general elections. Rayalaseema forfeited Madras, Kurnool as the State capital and Hyderabad was developed with the contribution of the people of Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions and no more sacrifices would be rendered, the former MLC asserted.
