District nets Rs.23cr. from sand sale

Sand sale: Guntur dt. nets Rs. 23.77 cr.

Guntur district administration garnered revenue of Rs.23.77 crore from the sale of sand, Minister for Agriculture Prathipati Pulla Rao said here on Tuesday.

Ever since the State government has liberalised mining policy and provided a facility for customers to order sand through mee seva counters, sand prices have come down, the Minister said at a media conference. Out of 3.65 lakh cubic metres of sand available, 3.02 lakh cubic metres has been sold fetching revenue of Rs.23.77 crore.Out of the revenue generated, Rs.8.50 crore was spent on giving fee to boatmen society, Rs.1.25 crore was given as cess to ZP and Rs.1.99 crore was paid to SHG members.
