‘Digital classrooms will be established in 5,000 schools by year-end’

Jayaram Komati says NRIs have been extending help in developing govt. schools

State Special representative in North America Jayaram Komati said that it was targeted to establish digital classrooms in 5,000 schools in the State. He said that those were already established in 2,600 schools and the remaining would be completed by the year-end.

Mr. Jayaram said that State government was keen to develop government schools on par with corporate schools. The NRIs have been extending support for improving educational standards in government educational institutions through digital classrooms, he added.

Speaking at a meeting at ZP High School, Sarpavaram, in Kakinada rural mandal on Saturday in connection with inauguration of a digital classroom, he said that there were nearly four lakh NRIs from the State and they were supporting establishing digital classrooms, anganwadi centres and in improving crematoriums.

Kakinada rural MLA Pilli Anantha Lakshmi said that digital education would help in improving standards of students. Kakinada Mayor Sunkara Pavani lauded the efforts of NRIs and urged the students to make best use of the facility.

DEO S. Abraham, who presided over the meeting, said that digital classrooms were established in 303 high schools in the district. Each classroom would cost ₹1.45 lakh, 70% of the cost would be borne by the State and the remaining by the donors. He said that 334 virtual classrooms were also established in the district for improving educational standards. Paladugu Subhmnayam father of a NRI Paladugu Srikanth, M. Francis, DD, I&PR, Y.D. Rama Rao, president, Red Cross society were among those present.
