Differences between Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and the Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha were resolved after the latter affirmed he would participate in Indiramma Baata, the mass contact programme, in Medak district from October 29.
The Deputy Chief Minister was upset at Mr. Reddy’s decision to skip his Andole Assembly constituency during Indiramma Baata and his refusal to provide funds for the Singur water diversion scheme. Citing these reasons, he threatened to keep away from the programme.
However, mediation by his Cabinet colleagues appears to have made him soften his stand.
‘Issue-based’
Talking to The Hindu on Friday, he said his differences with the Chief Minister, if any, were issue-based and insisted that they did not exist at individual level.
“Will I have any differences with the Chief Minister?, he asked, referring to the spate of media reports in this connection.
He said he was now relieved that Mr Reddy had finally assured him that the balance of funds required to complete the excavation of the canals and branches for taking water to fields in his Andole Assembly constituency from Singur project in the district, would be released soon without a hindrance.
“This is my problem and this is all the panchayat is about. My problem is solved”, he said.
All set for Kiran’s visit
Mr Rajanarsimha added that he, along with other Congress leaders of the district, would accord a warm welcome to the Chief Minister on his arrival to the district.
Instructions issued
An aide of the Deputy Chief Minister said that S. S. Rawat, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister had telephoned Mr Rajanarsimha informing that instructions had been issued to the Irrigation Department to release the funds for the works.
