The CPI-led Dalit Hakkula Porata Samiti will wage a relentless struggle for justice to the ostracised Dalits of Garagaparru in West Godavari district, according to its State general secretary Karavadi Subba Rao.

As part of the campaign, CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna would stay in the Dalit hamlet in the night of July 14 to express solidarity with the Dalits who were denied a little space for installing a statue of Dalit icon B.R. Ambedkar, Mr Rao told reporters here.

“The DHPS will stand by Garagaparru Dalits who have incurred the wrath of caste Hindus for putting the statue against their wish,” Mr. Rao added.

It was unfortunate that the Dalits were ostracised in different parts of the State, including Gonugunta village in Prakasam district, he said.

Their land were usurped by reclassifying them as government waste land as in the cases of displaced Dalits in Devarapalli and Yenikapadu for contractors close to TDP leaders, Mr. Subba Rao alleged.
