In an instance of regional sentiments taking upper hand over administrative matters, Padmavati, working as personal secretary to Finance Secretary Navin Mittal, has been transferred and posted in the peshi of Advisor, Finance.
There was resentment among Telangana staff that Ms. Padmavati, hailing from the Andhra region, managed to get allocation to Telangana on the basis of ‘spouse’ clause.
The resentment led to anger against her due to apparent strained relations between her and other Telangana employees in the department
The issue took a serious turn when Ms. Padmavati apparently represented for her promotion as Assistant Secretary and Telangana staff protested that it would jeopardise their promotion avenues and demanded her transfer on Tuesday.
When no action was taken, Telangana Secretariat Employees’ Association and Finance Department Employees’ Association in Telangana Secretariat resorted to dharna again on Wednesday.
Sensing that the issue was becoming a regional sentiment, the officials issued an order transferring Ms. Padmavati to the peshi of G.R. Reddy, Advisor, Finance.
