The Congress has received a big jolt in Srikakulam district with Dharmana Prasada Rao’s group formally deciding to quit the ruling party and join the YSR Congress very soon.
Mr. Prasada Rao, a former Minister, has been the flag-bearer of the Congress in Srikakulam district for the last three decades and his exit will cause damage to the ruling party immensely, according to political pundits.
He held important portfolios in the Cabinet but was forced to resign after his name figured in the CBI cases with regard to VANPIC land allocations.
The former Minister strongly criticised Sonia Gandhi and the Congress for taking a stand in favour of the division of the State.
In upbeat mood His loyalists, including Palasa MLA Juttu Jagannaikulu, DCC president Narthu Narendra Yadav, DCMS president Gondu Krishnamurthy and others, were in upbeat mood with the success of the meeting organised here on Sunday to chalk out the future action plan.
“Mr. Prasada Rao will formally submit resignation to the Congress after airing his views over the Unified AP in the current Assembly session,” said his followers.
