Former Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao is all set to join YSR Congress Party in December along with senior party leaders including DCC president Narthu Narendra Yadav and Palasa MLA Juttu Jagannaikulu. YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has reportedly given his nod to Mr. Prasada Rao and others to join the party.
The former Minister plans to join the party along with other 400 elected representatives including ZPTC, MPTC members and sarpanches. Narasannapeta MLA and Mr. Prasada Rao’s elder brother Dharmana Krishnadas negotiated the issue and cleared the way for the Congress leaders to join the YSRC.
“Mr. Prasada Rao will join our party next month. This would certainly help us since he has network in nook and corner of the district.
Mr. Jagan may come to Srikakulam as we are planning to conduct a massive programme on the occasion,” Mr. Krishnadas said.
Till now, several YSR Congress leaders tried their best to stop his entry into the party.
They reportedly said that a few locals in Sompeta and Kakarapalli were opposing the policies of the former Minister, who had strongly supported establishment of thermal projects in the district.
Mr. Prasada Rao clarified that such an opposition might confine to a few villages while arguing that he did it for the interest of the State which faced many difficulties with shortage of power.
“Mr. Jagan weighed pros and cons before giving his nod for the entry of the former Minister. There are many advantages to it. Moreover, Mr. Prasada Rao was instrumental in ensuring victory for the Congress in the entire district in 2004 and 2014. Undoubtedly, his experience will help us,” said a source in the YSR Congress.
