May 08, 2013 10:41 am | Updated June 13, 2016 07:53 am IST - GUNTUR:

A large pack of detonators wrapped in a cloth bag was found by the Guntur Railway Police on the railway station premises on Tuesday afternoon. The Railway Police personnel, during a routine inspection, stumbled upon the bag containing the detonators near a water kiosk between platforms 2 and 3. Detonators are normally used to trigger explosions in quarrying widely carried out in the district.

Railway Police Inspector P. Sarath Babu confirmed on Tuesday that a cloth bag containing 125 detonators has been seized and investigations were on to trace the owner of the bag with the help of labels printed on the material. The incident has again raised questions over the security system in place at the entrance and exit of the railway station. The station has two entrance points at the east and west ends and an equal number of exit points.
