High-profile leaders like Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi are going to descend on Seemandhra beginning Wednesday to undertake a high-pitched campaign.
Mr. Modi, who will address six public meetings on April 30 and May 1, will have the company of film actor and Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan and Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu in all the meetings. BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters here on Tuesday that Mr. Modi would address a meeting at Tirupati on Wednesday evening. After having a darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on May 1, he would proceed to Madanapalle where he would address a rally at 10.50 a.m.
This would be followed by public meetings at Nellore at 12.45 p.m., Guntur at 2.50 p.m. and Bhimavaram at 4.30 p.m. The BJP prime ministerial candidate would wind up his tour by addressing a massive meeting at Visakhapatnam at 7 p.m. Party sources said former Union Minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao would join the BJP at the Bhimavaram meeting.
A day ahead of his joint campaign with Mr. Modi, Mr. Naidu will participate in road shows and public meetings at Anantapur, Jammalamadugu, Renigunta and Tirupati. He will fly down to Anantapur after casting his vote in Hyderabad. Mr. Naidu addressed public meetings and road shows in Krishna district on Tuesday before heading to Darsi in Prakasam district. Though he was to address public meetings at Markapuram and other places, he cancelled them as the chopper he was travelling developed a technical snag. He reached Nellore by road.
Meanwhile, AICC vice-president Mr. Gandhi will address his maiden election meeting in Hindupur on Wednesday, kickstarting party’s campaign in Seemandhra. APCC chief spokesperson Rudraraju Padmaraju said party chief Sonia Gandhi would address a meeting at Guntur at 4 p.m. on May 2.
