Deputy SP Y.V. Ramana Kumar was hurt in a scuffle between the police and the protesters here on Saturday. The incident occurred when teachers were protesting the arrest of one of their colleagues at Kodumur.

The protesters alleged that the police had arrested N.Timmanna at Kodumur and shifted to C. Belagal police station. As there was delay in releasing the activists, the anguished teachers resorted to stir.

Meanwhile, the members of Joint Action Committee (JAC) staged a protest at the Collectorate against the attack on the activists at Rajahmundry by the followers of Amalapuram MP Harshakumar and the supporters of APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana at Srikakulam.

The protesters at Aluru organised road blockade preventing the traffic from Karnataka. The protests were organised at Yemmiganur, Adoni, Nandyal and other places too.

Meanwhile, the Teachers JAC leaders said they would take up rail roko on Sunday night to register their protest.

JAC leaders K. Channaiah, Somasekhar, Cinna Venkateswarlu and others were present at the press meet.
