Dengue claims life of VRO in Chittoor dt.

The incidence of dengue took a new twist with the death of a Village Revenue Officer (VRO) and hospitalisation of a Panchayat Secretary in Chittoor district on Saturday, while several more cases of dengue and viral fevers continue to threaten the rural side.

According to information, VRO of Varadaiahpalem, Suresh (25), was rushed to a hospital in Tirupati a couple of days ago as his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to the fever this morning while undergoing treatment. Suresh had been an active participant in the sanitation drive at his mandal, the epicentre of viral fevers since a couple of months claiming as many as 14 lives so far. Secondly, another official, Panchayat Secretary of Bathalavallam village of the mandal, Bala Murali (30), was rushed to a corporate hospital in Tirupati where he is currently under treatment for dengue, sources said.

The Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) is also undergoing treatment for viral fever.

Meanwhile, top officials of the Medical and Health Department are continuing their inspections in the villages vulnerable to dengue and viral fevers in the mandal for the fourth consecutive day. The recent developments has brought in a sense of fear among people of a number of villages in the mandal.
