The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is evolving a strategy to corner the Congress opinion at the all-party meeting convened by the Union Home Minister in New Delhi on December 28 by expressing a single opinion.
This opinion though will be a guarded one unlike in the past when two representatives of the party expressed divergent views. It will be on the lines of stand taken by the party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu in his letter to the Prime Minister stating that the TDP was not against Telangana and it was for ruling party to take a call.
“We are prepared to face consequences in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions as we are already doing with an opinion favourable to Telangana,” a polit bureau member of TDP from Rayalaseema told The Hindu . The TDP has been the target of attack by the Congress, TRS and BJP ever since December 2009 for its “two-eye theory”. It is now preparing for a “two eyes – one vision” strategy to silence its critics.“Mr. Naidu has taken a decision, even if guarded, to go with Telangana. The party will abide by his decision in spite of the consequences in other regions,” said another polit bureau member from North Coastal Andhra.
Senior leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said Mr. Naidu was likely to meet top leaders a day or two prior to December 28 to discuss the strategy. “Irrespective of the number of representatives we may send, our opinion will only be one,” he stated.
To target Centre
The TDP was also stated to be planning to target the Centre for its indecision on the issue for long as the reason for spoiling the State economically.
