“Delaying ‘T’ will impact polls”

May 02, 2013 09:30 am | Updated November 17, 2021 03:36 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Congress MPs from Telangana urged the party leadership against delaying decision on the separate Statehood issue as the party could face reversals in the general elections due next year.

T-Congress MPs – Ponnam Prabhakar, G. Vivekanand, Manda Jagannatham, S. Rajaiah and G. Sukhender Reddy – called off their 48-hour protest on the Parliament premises on Wednesday.

The protest, they claimed, made the high command seriously examine the demand and the “Congress think tank” was presently engaged in finding a solution to the issue.

“Further delay in taking a decision will have an adverse impact on the party’s prospects as people will not believe in the Congress,” Mr. Rajaiah said. Mr. Vivek criticised Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy for his “provocative remarks” against Telangana.
