Reaffirming his party’s commitment to Samaikyandhra, YSR Congress Party chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy called upon the voters to use the coming general elections as an opportunity to teach a fitting lesson to the parties which are bent upon splitting Andhra Pradesh.
Expressing the hope that his party would win 30 MP seats, Mr. Reddy said that this would help the party to play a crucial role in making the next Prime Minister of the country and then nobody would dare go ahead with the bifurcation process.
Mr. Reddy addressed a public meeting at Nayudupeta here on Friday as part of his ongoing Samaikya Sankharavam, a district-wise tour he undertook to propagate the need for keeping the State united and stall efforts of the ‘divisive forces’.
He arrived at the venue nearly 4 hours behind schedule but the crowds braved the hot sun and waited to listen to him.
Mr. Reddy deplored that the present-day politics has seen unprecedented degeneration and parties are stooping to any level as was witnessed in the case of the proposed reorganisation of AP.
“Just for the sake of votes and seats, they are splitting the State. This should be changed. The system should undergo transformation,” he added.
Describing the present issue as a struggle between the ‘arrogance of Delhi’ and the self-respect of Telugus, Mr. Reddy questioned whether Sonia Gandhi, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and N. Chandrababu Naidu should be forgiven for allowing the process of bifurcation to happen.
