An all-party meeting held here under the aegis of Samaikyandhra political JAC on Thursday pointed out that the decision of Congress Working Committee (CWC) is not final as it was a political one which is yet to be ratified by Parliament.
But there is no room for complacency as the process of formation of Telangana State has begun though the Bill is yet to be approved by Members of Parliament.
The participants have strongly objected to the constitution of the ‘high power committee’, which they said has no legal sanctity.
That being the case, the Joint Action Committees in Seemandhra region should think what purpose the presentation of their arguments in favour of unified State, would serve if the high power committee seeks their opinions.
Ponnur MLA Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar (TDP) said the people of Seemandhra would believe that the Congress high command is really trying to listen to their woes had the Prime Minister himself announced setting of the committee.
Instead, the matter was left to the whims and fancies of CWC which is a purely political body.
Chilakaluripet MLA Pratthipati Pulla Rao (TDP), former Ministers Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, Sanakkayala Aruna and Alapati Rajendra Prasad, former MLC Rayapati Srinivas (Congress), Md. Hidayat (Congress) L. Appi Reddy (YSR Congress city president) and others were present.
The meeting was presided by N. Samuel and P. Narasimha Rao of political JAC. The meeting reached the conclusion that the agitation should be further intensified in such a way that it catches the attention of Congress-led UPA Government.
While reiterating that the decision to form Telangana State should be taken back, the meeting sought to know why the recommendations of Srikrishna Committee on which nearly Rs. 100 crore was spent, were completely ignored.
Besides, the decision to carve Telangana State was taken overnight without taking the political parties and people of Seemandhra region into confidence.
