Says new government should take a call, post polls
Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu has warned against taking any decision on the capital for Seemandhra, saying it should be left to the new government after elections.
Expressing confidence that his party would form the government in Seemandhra and Telangana, he asked the present regime not to press the capital issue. He said TDP would construct the new capital. “We will replicate in Seemandhra the development that we carried out in Telangana. We will construct Seemandhra and reconstruct Telangana,” he said.
Mr. Naidu was addressing a joint meeting of party leaders from the 13 districts of Seemandhra and later met them district-wise till the evening.
He took exception to All-India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of AP affairs Digvijay Singh’s remarks that the capital of Seemandhra would be better than Hyderabad and asked the Congress to steer clear of capital formation, asserting that TDP alone was capable of developing it.
Mr. Naidu said that the TDP would play a pivotal role in the Centre. “We will forge ahead like a bullet in the elections in both the States. We will unify people of both regions on coming to power,” he said.
Taking pot-shots at the Congress, he said it had divided the State only to target the TDP. “But the Congress has committed a blunder without realising that we are strong in both the regions,” he said.
Stating that the graph of YSR Congress was on the decline, he said the Congress was prodding former Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to float a new party while working out a merger with the TRS.
Mr. Naidu, however, shied away from making any reference to the BJP. He merely said the party could not do justice during the bifurcation process.
