Dasara Sarannavaratri was celebrated with devotion and religious fervour in temples on Sunday.

Vedic pundits performed abhishekam and special poojas and the presiding deity was decorated as Sri Vijayalakshmi Devi in Sri Rajrajeswari Devi temple near Kadapa municipal grounds.

The presiding deity in Sri Bhadravathi Bhavanrushi and Sri Seetharama temple in Hanumappa street here was also decorated as Sri Vijayalakshmi and gramotsavam was performed in the night.

Priests performed panchamruthabhishekam and sahasranamarchana in Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Devi temple in Ammavarisala street here.

Sridevi Samee darsanam programme was conducted in the afternoon and the presiding deity was decorated as Sri Parameswari Devi in the temple and the deity was taken in a procession in Sridevi gramotsavam.

Ashtothara Sathakalasabhishekam was performed with 108 kalasams in Sri Vijayadurga Devi temple near Built-Up junction and the presiding deity was decorated in Siddhidhatri alamkaram.

Sameevruksha sandarsanam was performed in the afternoon and the presiding deity was taken from the temple in a procession in Kadapa town on Sunday night. Gunda pravesam and poornahuthi were performed on Maharnavami in Sri Matkanyaka Parameswari Devi temple at Rajampet and Brahmana santarpana organised in the afternoon. The deity was decorated in Sri Annapurna Devi alamkaram and mangalaharathi was given in the night.

In Sridevi, Bhoodevi Sametha Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple at Jayanagar Colony here, the presiding deity was decorated in Sri Krishnavatharam and maha mangalaharathi was given.

Vijayadasami festivities were performed in Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Devi temple, Sri Dandu Maremma temple at Kuntalamunadarapalle, Sri Vijaya Durga Devi temple at Nallagutta bidiki, Sri Nagarapamma temple at Bestapalli and Sri Rajarajeswari Devi temple at Chendrajugaripalle in Tsundupalle.

Sangareddy: Dasara was celebrated with much devotion with a large number of people forming long queues and offering prayers at temples. Special poojas and homas were held at various temples.

Durgabhavani temple at Ismailkhanpet, Chamundeswari temple at Jogipet, Vana Durghabhavani temple at Yedupayala and Kethaki Sangameswara temple at Jarasangam were special attractions.

People queued up for the darshan of Indian Roller (Palapitta) bird.

Government Whip T. Jayaprakash Reddy held a special programme at the stadium grounds in the evening, a yearly schedule being followed by him since the past few years. A number of people participated.

Chittoor: A festive atmosphere prevailed throughout Chittoor town, with hundreds of people thronging various temples on Sunday.

Despite it being a Sunday, the Church Street was teeming with people shopping for clothes and sweets.

The main temples of Lord Shiva and Lord Venkateswara in the town witnessed huge crowds from morning till evening.

The Durgamma Temple and other Shakti temples saw a large number of women clad in traditional attire.

The town wore a festive look with RTC buses back on the roads. Several families from Chittoor and the surrounding villages reached Kanipakkam Temple.

Meanwhile, thousands of devotees thronged the temple of Goddess of Gangamma at Boyakonda hillock near Chowdepalle of Punganur constituency.
