Dalit outfit demands action against Jerripothulapalem atrocity culprits

Holding the ruling Telugu Desam Party responsible for the stripping and beating up of a Dalit woman in Jerripothulapalem, near Visakhapatnam, the CPI-led Dalit Hakula Porata Sangam State General Secretary Karavadi Subba Rao on Thursday demanded stern action against the culprits. He also demanded that the disputed land be given to the Dalit families.

DHPS leader told the media, “it is unfortunate that the ruling TDP is bent upon depriving poor Dalits of the land assigned to them and giving it to persons close to the ruling party.”

He said the government should feel bad for the State standing fourth in the incidents of atrocities on Dalits in the country, adding that the incident was not an isolated one.
