Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu has regretted the resignation of senior leader Dadi Veerabhadra Rao from the party and saying the latter has spoilt his political career in a jiffy out of frustration.
He has described Mr. Rao’s step as a misadventure to stay in the limelight though it has taken three decades for him to shape his career.
‘Unwise decision’
People like him finish their career with one unwise decision in a minute, Mr. Naidu said in a brief interaction with media persons at his residence on Saturday.
Mr. Naidu said he had counselled Mr. Rao not to act in haste and assured him that the party would utilise his services in future though he might not be continued as the Leader of Opposition in the Council. His seat was being given to another backward class leader – Y. Ramakrishnudu – because the former had served a full six-year term in office.
Rao avoiding Naidu
Mr. Rao did not pick up his phone and tried to avoid him, of late. He had, however, met all his family members during the padayatra, Mr. Naidu added.
The TDP president said a majority of the party cadre in Anakapalle constituency, represented in the past by Mr. Rao, was intact. The same was the situation when another ex-MLA of Payakaraopet Chengal Venkatarayudu left the party. It showed that the cadre was not interested in leaving even if the leaders quit. The workers shouldered the responsibility and became leaders.
Asked if the TDP expected admissions from other parties, Mr. Naidu said: “We will get them in hordes if we open the gates.”
