Happy augury: Employees at one of the eight IT units at Tech Hub in Visakhapatnam onTuesday.

The promoters and employees of eight MSME companies, which launched soft operations at the new Tech Mahindra building, are brimming with enthusiasm as IT Minister Nara Lokesh will launch as many as eight MSME units on Thursday.

In an interesting development, the 11-floor building, which was taken on lease by the AP Electronics and Investment Agency (Apeita) as part of the drive to provide plug and play facility to IT players has been renamed as Tech Hub. Earlier, it was named Cyber Tower.

“After soft launch and encouraging response, we are very excited over launching of our units by Mr. Lokesh,” a promoter of one of the companies said.

The firms ,which will be inaugurated, include Amzur InfoTech Pvt Ltd, Virtual Guard Services Pvt. Ltd, Apex Content Solutions, IDA Automation Pvt. Ltd, Venture offshore Infomatrix Pvt. Ltd, Inventrax, Vismaya Premedia Services and Jiva Digital Services.

The companies deal with IT consultancy, IT/ITES services, projects and products among other things. The inaugural function is being organised jointly by Apeita and AP Non-Resident Telugu (APNRT) Society.

“Our endeavour is to promote IT in a big way by wooing NRIs,” APNRT President and Government Advisor Ravi Vemuru told The Hindu on Tuesday. The new units would generate employment for 600.

Mr. Ravi said they had brought 22 units to Amaravati-Vijayawada region and 10 to Vizag, including two located at the VUDA building at Seethammadhara.

He disclosed that they would shortly bring 22 units — 18 to Amaravati and four — Nueve Solutions, Vivalex, Young Logistics and Fusion Technologies — to Visakhapatnam with total employment potential of 3,000 and admitted that ready-built space was a big constraint for locating IT units in the city.

To a question he said once Millennium Tower with two lakh sft once ready, which is on verge of completion, would end the problem to a large extent. The APNRT has also launched a unique integrating web-based networking portal “www.itcentral.in”, an ecosystem to service and connect all incoming companies, training institutes and students seeking jobs, matching the right people to the right jobs or skill training.

This website will also provide all IT related job and training information in one place.
