It was a grand close to the annual Brahmotsavams at the TTD-run Sri Kodandarama temple here, with priests performing ‘Chakra Snanam’ on Thursday.

Priests immersed the idol of ‘Chakrathalwar’ (Sudarsana Chakra) in the Kapila Theertham tank in the designated auspicious hours, after an elaborate ritual marking a holy bath with sandalwood paste, honey, milk, curd, coconut and turmeric.

Pilgrims also took a holy dip in the tank along with the immersion of the idol.

The sacred flag ‘Dhwajapatam’, hoisted on the first day atop the temple flag post, was unfurled in the evening during the ‘Dhwaja Avarohanam ritual, which brought curtains on the annual festival.

Deputy Executive Officer Bhupathi Reddy, Additional Chief Vigilance and Security Officer Sivakumar Reddy and Superintending Engineer Ramesh Reddy were present on the occasion.
