Students of the city-based art school Vamsi Lalithakala Kovela have given shape to their passions using myriad shades of colours and put on display the artworks under the banner ‘Shades of Passion’ at the Sri Suryakala Mandiram.

In all, 15 students of the age group of 7 to 40 have displayed about 250 paintings in the three-day exhibition-cum-sale. Four girls – Ch. Praneetha, Y. Phanisri, T. Pratyusha and D. Lakshmi Prasanna - have a major share of 200 works to their credit.

“Art is a form of recording the history. We are able to know our past history by going through the paintings done by the artists of yesteryears. It is a misconception that photography can replace paintings,” observed Sunkara Pavani, city Mayor, while inaugurating the exhibition along with Badam Madhava Rao, founder, Abhyudaya Foundation, and Pothula Viswam, chairman, Rajiv Gandhi group of educational institutions here on Sunday.

Founder principal of the art school K. Vamsi Mohan said about 1,200 students underwent training in their school in the last 10 years and many of them took art as their profession. “This exhibition is to encourage our students and we are very happy that corporate firms are evincing interest to buy some of the works and the inquiries are in progress,” he said.
