The CPI(M) will wage a relentless struggle against the State government’s moves to adopt land pooling model for major infrastructure projects in cities and towns in the State.

Party State secretary P. Madhu told reporters here that the Chandrababu Naidu government wanted to replicate the land pooling model by floating bodies on the lines of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Kakinada and other cities to ‘usurp’ land from farmers in a big way for infrastructure projects.

Senior CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat would lead a campaign against bauxite mining in Visakhapatnam district on November 30, he said, recalling that Mr. Naidu himself had opposed the bauxite mining while he was in the opposition.

The Chief Minister had totally failed to protect the interest of the State at a time when the Centre had not kept any of the assurances given to Andhra Pradesh at the time of bifurcation like bridging revenue deficit, special package for Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra and a separate railway zone for the State.

Mr. Naidu was trying to hoodwink the people of the State by announcing big ticket infrastructure projects without taking any concrete steps to bring any of them to fruition, Mr. Madhu contended.

He pressed for regularisation of the services of over three lakh contract and outsourced employees in keeping with the TDP's poll promise and said the CPI (M) along with other like-minded parties would embark on ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ programme coinciding with the Budget session of the State Assembly if the State Government dilly-dallied on doing justice to these sections of employees.

The government should declare all the 56 mandals in the district as drought-hit, added CPI (M) district Secretary P. Anjaneyulu.
