Nearly 30 activists of the CPI, including its district secretary D. Prabhakar, courted arrest at the Collectorate on Wednesday while trying to break the police cordon during a protest to expose the “empty” talk by the TDP-BJP governments in the State and the Centre on the Polavaram project .

Mr. Prabhakar said the project had hit a roadblock, with contractors suspending works owing to non-payment of bills.

Meanwhile, Government Whip Chintamaneni Prabhakar faced the wrath of protesters as he got stranded in the melee on his way to the Collectorate.
