The alliance between Congress and CPI appears to have developed cracks even before the two parties formally started integrating their cadres for taking the combination to the grass roots level.
Within hours of the Congress announcing its list of candidates for elections in Telangana region, the CPI expressed its resentment over denial of the constituencies it sought as part of the alliance.
The CPI had asked Station Ghanpur and Ramagundam constituencies, but the Congress has named its nominees from the two seats.
CPI State secretary K. Narayana made no secret of his displeasure over the manner in which the Congress went about announcing its list of candidates. He said his party was prepared to take up the matter with the Congress central leadership, if the State party was unwilling to consider its request.
