Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, the first accused in quid pro quo investment cases, was left disappointed on Monday as a special court here rejected his plea for home food in Chanchalguda jail.
The court felt that Jaganmohan Reddy was already being treated as a special category prisoner where food was prepared separately for him and as the jail norms would not allow outside food to the prisoners, his petition could not be allowed.
However, the court directed the Superintendent of Chanchalguda prison to provide him any particular food prescribed by NIMS doctors while discharging him after hospitalisation following his seven-day fasting. He went on fasting in protest against the Congress party’s decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.
During the hearing on the petition, counsel for Jaganmohan Reddy informed the court that the doctors of NIMS did not prescribe special food in writing and their recommendation was only oral.
