March 25, 2014 12:54 am | Updated May 19, 2016 11:11 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sen Gupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar on Monday made it clear that the officials have to follow the statute while conducting elections to Kadapa Municipal corporation and cautioned that if at later stage it is found that the law has been violated regarding the division of wards etc., the elections are liable to be held invalid.

The Bench while refusing to stay election process to the Kadapa Municipal Corporation has made these observations.

The Bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by Shaik Mohammad Ahmed. He complained that the officers relied upon census figures of 2001 instead of 2011 statistics and resorted to division of ward etc.,. He complained that despite several reminders in advance the election officials had done this.
