The election of former Speaker and Telugu Desam leader Pratibha Bharathi and three other candidates to Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council from MLAs quota is a mere formality as the nomination papers filed them were found to be ‘in perfect order’ on scrutiny on Friday.
While Ms. Bharathi filed her papers for the bye-election caused by the death of former Minister Paladagu Venkata Rao, the others – M.A. Sharief ( TDP), Somu Veera Raju (BJP) and D.C. Govinda Reddy (YSR Congress) filed nominations for the election to three regular vacancies.
All the four candidates will be declared elected unopposed on May 25, the last date for withdrawals.
